"Vestiges & Verse: Notes from the Newfangled Epic", organised by Valérie Rousseau, in collaboration with Lille Métropole Musée d’art moderne, d’art contemporain et d’art brut (France), considers the work of 21 self-taught artists through the idiosyncratic structure of their lifelong, intricate narratives. Focusing on the writing practice of the artists and the mechanisms behind their visual storytelling, Vestiges & Verse brings together artworks by seminal artists including Aloïse Corbaz, Henry Darger, Paul Laffoley, Jean Perdrizet and Adolf Wölfli, alongside more recently discovered self-taught creators such as Josep Baqué, William A. Hall, Susan Te Kahurangi King and Richard Saholt.
