OUTSIDER ART FAIR PARIS

October 22–25, 2015

The third Parisian edition of the Outsider Art Fair will take place in the Hôtel Du Duc in a 1,000 square-metre space. There will be 38 international exhibitors, up from 25 the two previous years. New dealers include Carl Hammer Gallery (Chicago), Ricco/Maresca Gallery (New York), Hirschl & Adler Modern (New York) and Galerie du Marché (Lausanne). The Fair will feature a specially curated booth of the works of Japanese sculptor Shinichi Sawada.

HEY! AT HALLE SAINT PIERRE

"HEY! Modern art & pop culture / Act III" is the third and final installment in the series of exhibitions by editors of the eponymous publication, Anne & Julien. Featuring 63 international lowbrow, outsider and comic artists, including Gabriel Grun, Marion Peck, Joël Negri, Albert Sallé, Alain Bourbonnais and Mark Ryden.

Outside In and the Julian Hartnoll Gallery have announced the opening of an exhibition of intricate ink drawings by Japanese artist Shinya Fujii at the Julian Hartnoll Gallery, London. "Shinya Fujii: Outsider Art from Japan" will showcase a selection of drawings created on Kraft paper with a fine-nibbed pen. Inspired by Bali and Buddhism, Fujii listens to folk music whilst working, weaving together patterns and lines to make robots, insects, plants and sea shells.

JAPANESE AND SWISS ART BRUT

September 10 – November 18, 2015

Both galerie gugging and museum gugging turn their attention to Japan and Switzerland, beginning the autumn season with an extensive show titled "art brut: japan - schweiz.!". Contrasting works by François Burland (Lausanne), Yuichi Saito (Saitama Prefecture) and Junjo Yamamoto (Hyogo Prefecture) will be shown.

The second collaborative exhibition between Outside In and Bethlem Gallery showcases two refined yet differing perspectives on geometric form by artists Daniel and Rodney. Daniel's Metatron works form a series of drawings that use geometric shapes, lines and vivid colour. Rodney's process of distilling complex forms down to something more elegant is carried out without any formal training.

JOSEP PUJIULA I VILA RECEIVES AWARD

Spanish self-taught art environment builder Josep Pujiula i Vila was recently flown to New Zealand as a finalist for the International Award for Public Art. His work was chosen from 125 projects worldwide. Pujiula is the only self-taught artist ever included in the competition. His labyrinth and tower constructions near Argelaguer, Catalonia were honoured at the ceremony with an award of special distinction.

In "Forte", eight Creativity Explored artists transform sheet music into a language of abstracted patterns and marks on paper. From October 8 until November 22, "Dance Party!" is a group exhibition that captures the spirit and visual culture surrounding dance as a social activity, with over 30 paintings, drawings, video and installation art.
