| Franz Kamlander was born mute. He will never write
nor read. He communicates with his hands and is said to be mentally retarded.
He works on a farm, and at the age of thirty-three is arrested for sexually
harassing a little girl, and then institutionalized. He is frightened by
anything connected to the idea of the Church. Franz Kamlander had been drawing
prior to his arrival at Gugging. His work is crowded with animals; he particularly
likes cows, which he paints in many colors. His drawings are signed with
three undulating lines. |
